If you design something in Inkscape and are looking to Scribus-ify it, you will save yourself a world of pain by opening the Inkscape SVG directly in Scribus (the file extension is hidden by default, pick ‘all files’ in the file extension dropdown of the open dialog) rather than importing the SVG.
I learned this the hard way wasting hours hitting import and waiting for Scribus to come back over and over.
Scribus should use as native format
Scribus probably should drops its wierd internal XML format and adopt SVG Print as its native format. It would make moving back and forth a great deal easier.

But this tip is useful if you did ALL the layout in Inkscape and just want to Scribusfy to set up the bleeds and color. If you've a bunch of simpler SVG artwork from Inkscape, I bet import won't choke on you the way it choked on me.
