Fedora Flock Recap: Day 1

flock-logo
The fact that I’m able to post a recap of the first day of Flock is really due to the excellent organization of the many staff and volunteers who are doing an amazing job making Flock accessible to remotees. I’m not actually in South Carolina, folks!
Okay, so here’s a quick rundown of the day 1 talks that have transcripts and / or video recordings:

We all know Fedora sucks. Sometimes harder and sometimes it doesn’t hurt that much. This talk will highlight where we suck most, what we can do about it and why it’s sometimes not necessarily a bad thing to suck.

Evolution of a Linux Distribution and its Ecosystem

evolution
Over the last 20 years, Red Hat Linux, Fedora Core, Fedora were/are built to some common assumptions, expectations, and desires. Over that same period, the open source ecosystem has seen exponential growth number and variety of technologies and applications. The scope and breadth of the ecosystem and immense variety of deployment targets raises fundamental questions on the role of distribution and its capabilities. A single deployment target is no longer enough, neither is a single web programming language or a single database. Evolution of the content of Fedora as well as the processes and tools used to build Fedora can propel its significance for the next 20 years.
