fedoraproject.org banners
The content area on fedoraproject.org right now is not that blingy. Due to particular bandwidth issues, we put small screenshots up that are less interesting than they could be if they were a bit larger. Here’s an idea for a replacement; I think it would be cool to have large banners like gnome.org:

if your going to use those screenshots in the top one, doing something about the aliasing would be nice.

Reflection
Hey, the reflection should go into the same direction as the fedora one. Also, I think it would look better if the left edge of the screenshots were 90° aligned.

yeh i agree about the left edge, that is contributing to the aliasing problem.
Are you sure the reflection would go the same as the fedora one? it is straight on if you look it it from the angle of the screenshots. eg, for both the fedora and the screenshots, the reflections are straight.

Yep, such reflections always point into the direction of the viewer, because the mirror is exactly horizontal.

Yes, I think he is right. And I would not vertically scale the reflections, like you have done with the fedora.

Its a great banner, i love it, and i feel like making a new mockup for the fp.org template using that banner 'a la' gnome.org

…but the geometry is disturbing. The point concerning the reflections was already mentioned. What looks somewhat disturbing is that you are using parallel projection, while the more common setup would be to use orthographic projection. Also the vertical edges are slightly aslant. But you already stated that it is only a mock-up.

I think you hit the nail on the head – the screenshots are isometric while the background is orthographic! 🙂 I didn't realize that, thanks for pointing it out!
